Letter to the editor
Dear Editor,
I am writing to reply to the letter written by May in which she talked about the selfishness of the picnic-goers in Sai Kung. I strongly agree with her opinion and I have some advice to solve the problem.
According to May’s letter, firstly, some barbecue and picnic-goers leave many barbecue forks, plastic bags and rubbish next to the barbecue pit in the countryside. It is such selfish behaviors that make the next users inconvenient. We ought to put the rubbish and the plastic bags into rubbish bin, barbecue forks into recycling bin.
Secondly, May found that plastic cups and plates were found everywhere. In fact, plastic is difficult to be decomposed, thus we should use plastic as less as possible. The best way is to bring our own utensils so that we will produce less rubbish.
Finally, May said some people left some newspapers and soft drinks bottles on the ground. Throwing rubbish arbitrarily, it damages the countryside’s view. Furthermore, they are recyclable items, so that we ought to put them into recycling bin.
More long-term way, government must educate the students at school as well give more talks to the citizens. To tackle some litter-bugs, government ought to give heavy punishments.
Going to the countryside is our right, but keeping it clean is also our responsibility. Could it be said that we don’t want to have a beautiful countryside?
